The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a warning for today, April 2, of a wind advisory from 12 p.m. until midnight.
Affected areas include Grand Junction, Fruita and Palisade.
Westward winds are expected to get up to “25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph,” according to the NWS.
Wind intensity is expected to increase throughout the day.
“People, especially those with respiratory illnesses, heart
disease, the elderly, and children are recommended to stay
indoors and avoid prolonged outdoor exercise or heavy exertion
due to wind-blown dust,” the NWS reported.
