Diversity in music sets tone for Hip Hop Fest

“It was really cool that each one of the performers could bring what they had created, whether it was about freestyle battle rap, folk rap or lyrical performance,” ALC’s Roy Varley, who hosted the event, said. “It was definitely a show to remember and the audience seemed to love it.”

Below: CMU students comprise the group Krippled Kin, which added to the folk rap element of Hip Hop Fest 2014. Pictured here are Kaleb Wilkins (left), Ashely Straub (middle) and Corey Wright (right). Not pictured is the group’s violinist, Gabriel Dutton, who said, “We’re the folk band with a rapper.”
