Annual “Maroon & White” meet showcases wrestling prowess

In the annual inter-squad Maroon and White dual matches, CMU wrestlers competed against one another in preparation for their approaching season. In the intensely competitive contest, Maroon was victorious against the White team, winning five out of the nine matches and finishing with a score of 16 to White’s score of 12.

“We did pretty good for the most part for the first time under the lights. We got some young guys, some old guys and some hurt guys back into competition,” head coach Chuck Pipher said. “(James) Martinez looked good, as well as the freshman (Randy) Boerner. (Mac) Barrego gave a good showing, especially after having only two days of practice so far this season, and the match between (Trevor) Donarski and (Tyler) Miles was great.”

The wrestling team is traveling to Laramie, Wyo. Saturday to compete in the Cowboy Open for the first official meet of the season.
