I love breakfast. I love breakfast so much, that I believe it is a meal that can be enjoyed at virtually any time of the day. If you’re someone that feels the same way, get on down to Starvin’ Arvins in Clifton.
Starvin’ Arvins is a western themed family restaurant. Walking in, you notice some western décor on the walls. Country music is playing, and the cliental matches the environment.
Starvin’ Arvins is a pretty good deal if you’re looking for a large amount of food. And unlike a lot of “lot of food, for not a lot of money” places out there, Starvin’ Arvins is quality food.
The menu contains breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. Breakfast is offered all day with big dishes such as french toast, sirloin and eggs, chicken fried steak and eggs, unlimited pancake platters and then there’s the biscuits. With a host of biscuit breakfasts such as, the biscuit sandwich, the biscuit supreme and the classic biscuits and gravy there is a story that goes along with those breakfast choices. It is claimed that in 1985, Arvin was offered 50,000 dollars by a national chain for his amazing biscuit recipe. Of course, Arvin didn’t sell, and Starvin’ Arvins is the only one with the sought after biscuit recipe.
With any breakfast order, an unlimited side order of pancakes can be added. And when they say unlimited, they literally mean unlimited. Coming two massive pancakes at a time, you can have as many plates as you can eat.
Of course, breakfast is not all Arvin serves. Lunch is available after 10 in the morning. Burgers, cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers, chili cheeseburgers, and a french dip that will make all other French dips bow before it.
And meat lovers beware, Starvin’ Arvins is where you need to be at dinnertime. Sirloin beef tips, sirloin steaks, Porterhouse steaks, pork steak, chicken fried steak and many more meat dishes will make you wonder if there are any cows or chickens left in the state of Colorado.
Yes, it’s a bit of a drive from campus but it is definitely worth it. You will get filled up and get away from school for a little bit. I would like to think I’m a pretty good authority on breakfast. So get up on a Saturday before noon, put on some clothes and drive ten minutes to Clifton, and have yourself some of the best breakfast you have ever had.
