Faculty and students celebrate the life of Mesa State professor through art

“It is through the working of abstract form that I am seeking to achieve a level of efficiency by getting the mot amount of expression from the least amount of color and elements. To confront and challenge the viewer to engage in a reactive interpretation.” – Brian Baker

Faculty and students gathered together to create an exhibit to honor former MSC art professor and alum, Brian Baker. Baker died in June 2010, due to a congestive heart attack. The exhibit is a way to celebrate Baker’s life by displaying some of his selected artworks, which will remain in the College Center art gallery until Friday.

As a gift, Baker’s family donated one of Brian’s pieces entitled, “The Big Blue Hoop,” which is currently on display in the gallery.
