Women’s golf wins first tournament of the season

Mavericks win the RMAC Fall Preview in Lakewood

The Colorado Mesa University women’s golf team got off to a terrific start to their fall season by winning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Fall Preview. The two-day tournament took place at Fox Hollow Golf Course. The Mavericks beat out 13 other teams.

CMU had a total score of 618 as a team (308, 310) for the tournament. Three strokes better than CSU Pueblo and UCCS.

Ashlyn Kirschner finished in second place. Kirschner shot one-over par (72) in the first round and five-over par (76) in the second round. She had the highest individual performance for the Mavericks, finishing six-over par.

The bus did not stop there.

Heather Kroll finished in a tie for eighth place at 12-over par. Kroll shot eight-over (79) for the first round. Then shot four-over (75) in the second round.

Mariah Ehrman and Megan Liborio finished in a tie for 21st at 17-over par. Ehrman shot 9-over (80) in the first round and 8-over (79) in the second round. Liborio shot eight-over (79) in the first round and nine-over (80) in the second round.

The Women’s team will compete next week at the Fall Regional Preview in Durango at the Hillcrest Country Club.
