Griffins take defeat on their home court

Colorado Mesa University’s volleyball team took to Salt Lake City on Friday to continue their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule. They returned home with another win under their belt, with a sweep of the Griffins.

Westminster took the defeat on their home-opener to the conference season. The Mavericks improved their serving errors they have made in previous games and proved their capability with 10 serving aces.

Katie Scherr added 11 Kills, 5 Aces and 2 Blocks to her collegiate volleyball resume.

The first set of three, the two teams were tied at 5 until the Mavericks pulled ahead with a 9 point lead. With the help from outside hitter Mackenzie Edwards, they were able to finish the set off with a statement from a kill from Edwards.

The action continued into the second set when Griffins fought for their 4-1 and 6-4 leads before the Mavs took a 5-0 command. Taking them into the final set with 2 sets of success.

Similar to the first set, the match was finalized with a kill from Scherr on game point. The Mavericks won the final set 25-19.

CMU will be heading into a battle next Friday in Brownson Arena against nationally ranked Regis University.
