Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is making progress towards starting the graduate level Athletic Training Program. The bachelors level program has been on probation since early 2017 by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.

The program voluntarily withdrew its accreditation up to May 2019 in order to pursue implementing a master’s in the Athletic Training Program.

National organizations, such as the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), voted in to raise the standards in order to match the education level of other entry level positions in the health care field.

The new program was approved by CMU’s Board of Trustees and will be seeking final approval from the Colorado Commission on Higher Education. This implementation is anticipated to occur by Fall 2019.
