Colorado Mesa University squared off against the #22 ranked Sonoma State University Saturday afternoon down in Arcata, Calif. After a scoreless first half between the two teams, the Seawolves were able to pull away with two goals in the second half to win the game 2-0 and deal the Mavericks their second loss of the season.

The Mavericks were outshot in the game 17-5, including 10-4 in shots on goal. Midfielder Ryanne Parker led the team with 3 shots, all of which came on goal. Forward Zoe Peterson was the other Maverick to attempt a shot, finishing the game with 2.

CMU was held without a corner kick for the entirety of the game, as well as had one more foul than SSU (11-10).

Freshman Emily Signorio started the game in net for CMU, and she finished with 5 saves on the day. However, Signorio received the loss on her record in her first game with the Mavericks.

CMU will now come home for a 2 game weekend, starting with Texas-Permian Basin on Friday. Kick off is set for 4 p.m. at Walker Field.
