Mavericks shine at Pumpkinman Triathlon

Both men and women compete impressively in final regular-season appearance

This past Saturday, Colorado Mesa University’s men and women triathlon teams traveled to Boulder City, Nev. to compete in the Pumpkinman Triathlon.

On the women’s side, senior Hannah Brockie was the Mavericks’ top finisher in a time of 1:36:15.8, placing first in the 20-24 female age group and as the second female overall. She completed the 750-meter swim in 13:23.6, the 12.4-mile bike ride in 58:12.9 and the five-kilometer run in 21:39.

Brockie was followed by CMU’s second finisher, senior Hana Peterman, who finished in a time of 1:45:01.2, making her the third finisher in the 20-24 female age group and the 10 female overall.

On the men’s side, senior Wyatt Colloty finished in a time 1:22:07.2, placing first in the 25-29 male age group and as the fourth male overall. He completed the swim in 14:13.0, the bike ride in 47:12.7 and the run in 18:05.5.

Colloty was followed by freshman Santiago Bedoya, who finished in a time of 1:26:59.9, making him the first finisher in the 20-24 male age group.

The Mavericks make their final appearance of the season on Nov. 5 in Tempe, Ariz. for the NCAA Championships.
