The Associated Student Government’s meeting on Feb. 27 involved discussion of an update of the Student Life Office. The cost will be $20,000 that will be funded by not only ASG, but also each organization. They also discussed paying for the coffee and snacks in the library for finals week. The Senate was in favor of covering the cost for this.
ASG President Beau Flores said, after meeting with a number of the clubs during the week, most of them said they did not even know who their senator was. Flores expressed that he wanted all senators to reach out to their respective clubs so that they are aware of who their representative is.
The next matter of discussion was the appointment of Supreme Court Justice Jasmine Tellez. Prior to the previous ASG meeting, she was nominated for this position. She was officially appointed tonight by a unanimous vote.
Senate Leader Colton Rupple introduced Brennan Probsdorfer for position of Health Sciences Senator. After a brief presentation from Probsdorfer, he was asked why he wanted to join ASG. “I wanted to get involved in high school, and I know a lot of Senators are RAs (Resident Assistant) and once I saw a seat open, I jumped in. I plan to reach out to my clubs and RAs,” Probsdorfer said. After a short discussion among the senators, Probsdorfer was appointed Senator of Health Sciences and officially sworn in.
There will be no ASG meeting on March 13, as they will be hosting a forum with the Political Science Club in the ballroom. The forum will be with the City Council candidates. Since this is during the normal meeting time, all senators are expected to attend the forum.
The only other order of business for the meeting was the appointment of Morgan West as Business Senator.
