Creative in Entertainment

A new way to make connections, the new Creative in Entertainment club aims to help out various art students with networking and workshops.

Although the club aims to appeal to artists, such as writers, photographers, musicians and designers, Creative in Entertainment welcomes anyone who wishes to join.

“I talked to Dr. Sean Flanigan, and because half of the music department has a club and half of it doesn’t, we all kind of felt left out and we kind of wanted something to do,” founder Relena Mosely said. “I tried to look into it and started building a constitution.”

Mosely, currently a sophomore at Colorado Mesa University (CMU), is a Music Business major.

Many of the music education students are in a club together, but because their club meets when many of the other music students are in class, Mosely wanted to look for a way for other students to meet, and it blossomed from there.

“I would love it to be like a really, really big club so maybe like 50 people,” Mosely said when asked what she’d like to grow the club to.

The aim of meetings would be to provide various educational workshops to showcase different skills to members who’d like to learn something new. For example, a theatre arts officer would do a workshop on how to make props, or a music officer would hold a workshop on the proper cleaning on an instrument.

“We also have an event going on that we’re going to go support the Grand Junction High School theater department,” Mosely said. “We’re going to go watch part of their play. Just helping support the younger community and older community with their performances.”

Meetings are currently scheduled to be bi-weekly, starting on March 3 at 4:30 p.m., and take place in the band room in the Moss Performing Arts Center. COVID-19 protocols will be required to follow.
