More than 200 students attended Colorado Mesa University’s Grad Party on Wednesday evening, May 8 in the University Center Ballroom from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. The first 200 students to check-in received a commemorative stainless steel ‘Class of 2019’ cup.

There was also an alumni t-shirt giveaway for those students who interacted with members of the alumni board. A board member would give them a ticket for a shirt after they mingled with them. One face that was prominent throughout the evening was Alumni President Doug Sorter. Even President Tim Foster was seen for a bit walking around and mingling.

Outside on the terrace, there was cornhole set up for seniors to play as well as a seating area.

Inside there was a taco bar for everyone to enjoy refreshments as they mingled with friends and alumni board members. For those who were of legal drinking age, they were given two drink tickets to enjoy a beer or two as well.

For everyone’s enjoyment, there was live music performed by Wave 11. The musicians changed the words to an Eagle’s song ‘Hotel California’ to ‘Hotel Colorado’. They performed a mixture of different songs to please all in attendance. There were even a few students who were dancing as well.

There was also a photo booth for seniors to take pictures with friends. The photo booth was busy, but the line moved quickly. There was a frequent visitor nearby, CMU’s very own graduating pup!

The Alumni Board held drawings for prizes. One senior won tickets to attend Mavs At The Rockies on June 15. A couple of other students won alumni portfolios and others won free drink tickets.

For those graduating next week, this was a perfect end to all of your hard work. Congratulations on your job well done and good luck to all your future endeavors!
