Board of trustees proposes new graduate tuition rates

A proposal for graduate tuition rates was brought to the attention of the Colorado Mesa University Board of Trustees. Since CMU has added new graduate programs, the budget had to be looked at.

While needing to increase the prices CMU researched peer comparators rates, student demand, state residential differences, local regional needs and program costs.

According to the printed proposal starting fall of 2018 these will be the changes:

“Align current on-campus and on-line delivery tuition rate at $500 per credit hour for resident and $750 for non-resident for all graduate programs, except health sciences and physician assistant programs. Programs within this category tend to be more common programs and ones where CMU needs to be particularly price sensitive to other institutions, especially in the on-line market.

“Set new Physician Assistant program tuition at $600 per credit for resident and $900 for non-resident students. This program, along with other health sciences programs are highly specialized, high-cost programs and with very limited options for students. The $600 rate will allow CMU to remain competitive, but also recognizes the uniqueness of the program.

“Charge graduate students a one-time matriculation fee (similar to undergraduate students to cover the cost of admissions, transcripts, graduation, costs, etc.)”
