Video games are one of the most exhilarating entertainment platforms of all time. Many of us can recall overnighters with our best friends, making memories and spending an insane number of hours binding our eyeballs to a screen to get that one achievement or to show off. I can recall the buckets of sweat we created, as I attempted to be the champion among my friends.

Video games created these moments. Usually, we were playing one of the three greatest video games of all time.

  1.     “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”

To kick things off, we have one of the best selling RPGs of all time released for the Nintendo 64. This game is a true classic. Back when the game was released, on a 64-bit console, “Legend of Zelda: OC” truly soared beyond the other titles. This piece of incredible gaming history has everything needed to make an amazing game. The story is incredible. You go through time playing as one of Nintendo’s biggest mascots, Link. Every level has such vibrant colors and themes to match, and don’t get me started on how many fantastic levels there are. There are also some very notable and historic weapons to use in the combat system. One of the best parts about the game is how long it is. The first run through is an average of 20-40 hours, if one is being thorough. Then there’s the amazing soundtrack to top it all off. One song can leave you in tears, and then the next one will spike your heartbeat.

  1.     “Half Life 2”

Have you ever imagined defeating an entire alien race, taking down a giant corrupt organization spread realm wide and helping create some of the most groundbreaking science discoveries of all time with a crowbar? In the second instalment of Valve’s Half Life series, you take on the journey of Gordon Freeman, a scientist devoted to making discoveries and breaking supply crates. In this game, you go on a journey in a rundown town named City 17. You soon realize an apocalypse has basically taken place over time. Through very careful and thoughtful levels, riddled with puzzles that truly make you think about what you’re doing, you do everything in your power to help your scientist colleagues eradicate the Combine and its unruly dictator ways. The game has a soundtrack to set the mood for any level, combined with an atmosphere to truly consumes you. This is one journey you will never forget, from when you first step off the train to enter City 17 to the bug infested beaches leading to a prison camp called Nova Prospekt.

  1.     “The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt”

This is the crown jewel of video games. This game does everything right to truly deliver the best video game experience I’ve ever laid my UV-ray ridden corneas on. In this demi-god forged game, you take on the role of a professional monster slayer named Geralt of Rivia (a.k.a The White Wolf, a.k.a The Butcher of Blaviken). Through this game, you enter an incredible world, a place called “The Continent.” Throughout the game, you travel to several places across the

continent and take on contracts to kill some of the biggest and toughest monsters, as well as playing an extremely addicting card game known as “Gwent.”  While doing all of this, you’re in search of your adopted daughter known as Ciri, as she is chased by the ancient elven race known as the Wild Hunt. Unfortunately, no words can truly express how fantastic these games are. I recommend you go play these games for yourself, and embark on journeys you will never regret.
